My name is Clara Ravanelli. I’m Italian, born in Milan, the regional capital of Lombardy, in the North of Italy.
I moved to Cincinnati in 2013. My job always brought me everywhere in Italy and I really enjoyed meet people and exchange experiences. Along with my work, when I was out of town for visiting clients, my first thought was always find a good restaurant to have lunch or dinner. Being around, everyday in a different place, gave me the opportunity to enrich my knowledge about italian food. I also took plenty of vacations in Italy, so now I can tell that I know pretty well the regional shades of the italian cuisine, the different ingredients and the tradition that goes with the territory of each region.
I’m from the North and, of course, I usually cook using the “North way of cooking”, but mixing traditions is the best tip to cook a good italian dish.
Here in Cincinnati I’m a home staying wife. I have plenty of time to go deep in my passion for food and cooking; time to find the best ingredients and instruments; time to learn; time to experimenting. My kitchen is my cave and there, everyday, something different happens. It's about the weather or about how I feel that day, but that place can tell a lot about me. Here, you are reading a journal of recipes that are accompanying me in this american experience. Recipes for a dinner with friends or a pool party or a romantic meal with my husband. I can remember a fact for each of them. They are here because i liked them and I want them to be part of my daily life. Some are from the tradition some are a mix with the present. It's a pleasure to me share my kitchen experiences with you all.
